Submental fat seems to be a thorn in the side of a lot of patients. There are few reasons why you would have an issue like this. Aging plays a major role because your skin has lost elasticity and starts to sag. It could also have genetic factors or it could be from recent weight gain. Either way, it can leave patients feeling sensitive about their appearance.

Dr. Sani, with Sani Aesthetics, can help you get rid of that double chin that just won’t seem to go away no matter how much diet and exercising you may do. His KYBELLA® treatment, which he has been certified in, will leave you with a much smoother contour.

KYBELLA® may be right for you if you are concerned about the fat under your chin, you don’t want to have surgery, you feel older or heavier than you are, or your submental fullness does not disappear after diet and exercise.

What Is KYBELLA®?

Kybella Double Chin Treatment

* Your results may vary

KYBELLA is the only method of treatment approved by the FDA that can be injected to improve the appearance of the submental fat under your chin. It does this by eliminating the cells of fat in the area. It has been evaluated in over 20 clinical studies and more than 1,600 people have been treated with it successfully.

KYBELLA® is a prescription medicine that can only be administered in those 18 or older to reduce the fat below the chin and improve the appearance of that moderate to severe fat. It works by targeting the fat and destroying it due to the deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a colorless, sterile solution. It’s also a molecule in the body that helps to break down and absorb the dietary fat.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Dr. Sani and his team at Sani Aesthetics will determine how many treatments you need based on the amount of fat that is stored under your chin. You may receive up to six treatments no less than one month apart from one another.

The treatment is administered by Dr. Sani and takes around 15-20 minutes, but this can vary from person to person. You will receive a series of injections into the fat under your chin.

What to Expect After Treatment

For most of Dr. Sani’s patients, they went on with their normal daily activities after their first treatment with mild swelling. Before he administers the treatment, he may apply some ice/cold packs or a local anesthesia to the area to ensure that your comfort level is where you want it to be.

As with most of these procedures, there may be some mild pain, so it may be advised that you take an over-the-counter pain reliever after the procedure. After you return home, you may apply an ice pack to the area to reduce swelling and any discomfort that you may be in. You may have some swelling, bruising, numbness, pain, redness, and an area of hardness after the treatment.

With the KYBELLA® treatment, you may experience nerve injury in the jaw that could cause an uneven smile or you may have some muscle weakness in the face. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Dr. Sani and his team to go over your concerns about the procedure. Only four out of every 100 people experienced the muscle weakness and two out of every 100 experienced trouble swallowing.
